Fourteen beautiful and talented Guyanese women will go head to head this evening to have the prestigious Miss Guyana Universe crown placed on their head and an opportunity to represent the ‘Land of many waters’ abroad at the International Beauty Event of the year which will be held in the Philippines.
These beauties have been getting themselves ready for the quest to secure not only the local but the international crown, and later this evening only one woman will be standing tall when she outshines all others in the Grand Ballroom of the exquisite Guyana Marriott Hotel.
“So far preparations for the Miss Guyana Universe Pageant are on point. They are no major challenges being faced and all of the delegates appear ready for the competition and the big stage”, one of the organisers of the event told INews on Friday.
After the delegates’ introduction to the public and the subsequent public appearances a few days ago, it was clear that this year’s delegates were all unique and distinct in their own ways. Some served up beauty and ‘sassyness’ while others served beauty and intelligence. Only a handful of the girls managed to achieve a balance between all of the qualities needed to clinch the international title or gain a place in the semi-finals at least. But by the time the preliminaries came it was clear that there are four girls dominating the leader-board because of their experience, knowledge of the beauty industry and clean delivery of various concepts and personas.
The contestants vying for the crown are: Ariella Basdeo, Ashley Cameron, Ashley John, Meleisa Defreitas, Soyini Fraser, Odessa Grogan, Rafieya Husain, Iman Jaisingh, Aysya Kelley, Faydeha King, Xamiera Kippins, Denisha Rigers, Malika Russell and Ayana Whitehead.
