Overseas based Guyanese robbed, male shot, critical at GPHC

Police are currently investigating an alleged robbery under arms committed on two overseas based Guyanese. One of them a 42-year-old male overseas based Guyanese who resides at Peter’s Hall was shot to his neck, at Herstelling, EBD, about 3:00hrs this morning by four masked men, two of whom were armed with handguns.

robberyAccording to a statement issued by the Police, a female overseas based Guyanese (another victim) had a family reunion at her Herstelling property and shortly after the guests departed, the bandits pounced and relieved her of a quantity of gold jewellery. The male victim who was apparently present at the reunion, put up a struggle with one of the gunmen and was shot to his neck, after which the men escaped.

Based on the information received, the shot victim was rushed to the Diamond Diagnostic Hospital and was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he underwent surgery. His condition is regarded as stable but serious.

A 21 year old male of Herstelling is in police custody assisting with the investigation.

  2. hmm! I believe President Granger says crime in Guyana is not that bad! I know he’s not directly responsible for the actions of these individuals, but in reality Guyana needs to change how they deal with this criminal element. Bring back the cat-o-nine tails and public flogging,
